第五部：《傲慢与偏见》这本书的语言程度很浅，特别适合刚刚开始看原著书的朋友们。主要写的是爱情与婚姻，以男主人公达西和女主人公伊丽莎白的感情纠葛为线索，书写了一系列的爱情故事。
第六部：《简爱》《简爱》是十九世纪英国女小说家夏洛蒂勃朗特的作品。这本书我读的是译本，所以不知道原著的难易程度，不过故事情节还是很不错的。

乔伊斯《都柏林人》，由独立的短篇故事组成。也是大一读的，是一门乔伊斯选读选修课。都柏林人刻画众生相，哀其不幸怒其不争，从题材到语言都是爱尔兰鲁迅。绝妙的语言，复杂的用典。难度怎么形容呢，就是一篇故事要看20多页ppt的西方典故才知道某一个选词的意义。乔伊斯选读那门课的老师真的很好… 大一泛读课的Color Purple, 第一次读非裔女作家的小说，一个黑人女孩的自我寻找和成长历程。娓娓道来。想了解feminism，mother-daughter relationship和黑人英语的不要错过Alice Walker。大二泛读课的Joy Luck Club喜福会。华裔女作家Amy Tan。旧中国几个家庭背景不同的女人移民到美国，又各自生了女儿在美国生活。旧中国的苦痛，新社会的酸楚，母女之间的代沟与文化差异表现的淋漓尽致。语言很简单，也很诙谐，动情处又令人叹惋。后来老师还推荐了类似题材的The Woman Warrior. 汤亭亭和谭恩美算是美国社会接受度和流行度最高的华裔移民文学人物了吧。我对The Woman Warrior一直觉得害怕又喜欢、怪诞又奇妙。它的副标题叫做Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, 是用拼贴、解构、重述中国民间传说和“鬼”文化来讲述家族故事的，不管是在中国的往事还是在美国的经历，人人是鬼。研究后现代主义的话可以读读。大二精读课布置了The Jungle，辛克莱写于大萧条时期，揭露食品工业黑幕，反映移民和工人的生存惨状。精读老师说，可以看看当时的美国是否就是现在的中国。不怕恶心的请看书中如何描写香肠厂的作业过程和自来水厂如何取水。罗斯福一边看这本书一边吃早点，看着看着就把火腿扔了。大二精读老师说他最爱Willa Cather的小说，中西部文学的典范，算是不以剧情为主打的小说，很有乡土、自然气息。比如拓荒者（O! Pioneers）等。Virginia Woolf的各种，比如Mrs. Dalloway, A Room of One's Own等。想学英文用词的一定看伍尔夫，而且要读出来。大一精读课文有一篇《飞蛾之死》，里面形容蛾子死前挣扎的翅膀，羸弱、孱弱、奄奄一息等足足用了十几种同义词。
